Today’s IC Friday is imaging the secured sub-1GHz radio system from TI. This chip features both the RF subsystem as well as a microcontroller and 32kB flash. Thanks to reader Matthias Wenzel for this suggestion.

whee!
a big thank you is due. I can spot a few interesting things in the large RF-section (cc1110f32-20x-stitched.jpg). Sadly most digital parts are scrambled, I had liked to see the AES128 processor.

No problem! Unfortunately, it is often almost impossible to reverse engineer the digital portion or a modern IC due to the obfuscation by several layers of interconnects and optical properties of polysilicon.
